Two options to choose for students:
- Preparatory Japanese Language Courses at Private Universities: These are the usual subjects offered in Japanese colleges in order of providing foundational learning on Japanese language, society, culture and any other subject to foreign students aspired to junior colleges, undergraduate or postgraduate courses. Most Japanese classes are conducted in Japanese, but some are held in English. In the majority of cases, students are given a visa status under the name “College Student”.
- Japanese Language Institutions Providing Japanese Language Courses: These schools cater to those from other countries wishing to study at universities or other educational institutions within Japan. These institutions comprise of specialized training colleges, vocational colleges, and other schools known as kakushu gakko. It is recommended that future students confirm how their intended language school is officially described by looking it up on the Ministry of Justice website. Foreign students studying at designated Japanese language institutes may enter Japan under the status of residence of "exchange student."
